A temporary Medicaid card can be issued from the W.I.C. department. This card can be used for outpatient prenatal care (such as Doctor's office visits) and is valid for 30 days from the issue. A financial screening is performed and a positive pregnancy test is required to determine eligibility. An official Medicaid application must be submitted to DHSS for a permanent card.
